The Wepre Bar & Grill
Tucked away in the heart of Connah's Quay on Wepre Lane, The Wepre Bar & Grill offers a warm, contemporary dining experience that effortlessly balances comfort and sophistication. It’s the kind of place you stumble upon once and end up returning to again and again-not just for the food, but for the inviting atmosphere, attentive service, and an impressive list of carefully curated beverages. Whether you're a solo diner looking for a quiet evening out or planning a hearty lunch with friends, this venue seems to tick all the right boxes.
From the moment you walk through the wheelchair-accessible entrance, you’re welcomed into a modern, relaxed setting that feels refined without being stuffy. The layout is spacious, with ample wheelchair-accessible seating and even outdoor dining options for those sunnier days. Inside, the ambiance is casual-chic, blending rustic charm with a stylish bar that showcases their extensive beer and wine list, alongside a great selection of cocktails and spirits.
But let’s talk about what really matters: the food.
If you're the type who enjoys classic dishes done right with a touch of flair, you’ll feel right at home here. The Sirloin Steak is a favorite among regulars-cooked to perfection, juicy, and paired beautifully with their seasonal vegetables and sauces. The Lamb Henry offers a melt-in-the-mouth experience, slow-cooked and deeply flavorful, while the Duck with Cherry Jus comes with a crispy duck leg rosti that’s both inventive and indulgent.
Seafood lovers have plenty to choose from, too. The Pan Fried Seabass is light, flaky, and served with an elegant balance of sides that let the fish shine, while Mussels and Prawns make excellent starters or small plates if you’re in the mood to share. For a more casual bite, their Beef Burger and Hamburger options are far from basic-think premium cuts, artisanal buns, and creative garnishes that go beyond the typical pub grub.
Vegetarian? While the menu leans hearty and meat-forward, there are healthy options and small plates that cater to lighter appetites or different dietary preferences, ensuring no one feels left out. And whether you're washing it all down with a cold lager, a glass of Malbec, or simply a well-pulled espresso, the drinks are just as thoughtfully presented as the meals.
Speaking of coffee, it’s worth noting that this spot has quietly become a local gem for great coffee and tea selections. Their coffee program is more than an afterthought-it’s rich, well-extracted, and clearly made with care. It pairs perfectly with their dessert game, which is honestly a standout. The Sticky Toffee Pudding arrives warm and luscious, a true classic, while the Apprentice's Cheesecake offers a creative twist that changes seasonally-definitely one to ask your server about.
Service here leans friendly and professional, with a team that seems genuinely proud of what they serve. They know the menu inside out and are happy to offer suggestions, especially when it comes to wine pairings or lesser-known dishes like Lamb Chops with herb glaze or their creamy Carbonara.
It's also worth mentioning that The Wepre Bar & Grill is a popular lunch and dinner spot, which means reservations are a smart move, particularly on weekends. The vibe is perfect for a long lunch that turns into an early dinner-or for a romantic night out that starts with crispy Chicken Wings and ends with a slice of rich Lava Cake or their signature Panna Cotta, if you’re lucky enough to catch it as a special.
With no delivery or takeaway, The Wepre Bar & Grill encourages you to sit down, slow down, and enjoy the full experience. And really, that’s what makes this place special. It’s not about rushing through a meal-it’s about savoring it, one bite and sip at a time.

Beautifully decorated for Christmas. I passed on a compliment about the decor to the Manager. It was very impresdive. We felt very cosy and festive. It's Definatly worth a visit. Great, authentic vegetarian food. Lentil and Beetroot burger delicious. I really like the Team here. They're a great bunch and very customer focused.
The staff are amazing, friendly and very attentive, nothing was too much trouble for them. Our meals were well presented, delicious and very filling. Despite the negative feedback they received regarding pricing when they first opened, I would say the food is reasonably priced for quality. Double bacon cheese burger was so tasty as we're the mussels. For pudding we had the baked alaska and sticky toffee spring rolls.
Absolutely amazing meal last night here. I had the braised short ribs for starters and the fillet steak with Diane sauce for main. This was the nicest steak I've ever had. No room for pudding. The guy who was serving us was very friendly, we will definitely return
Beautiful atmosphere, very attentive and helpful staff, truly outstanding food - not once have we come and been disappointed by anything. Highly recommend!
We were so impressed with the experience as a whole. All the staff were amazing and went out of there way to look after us. The food was delicious and can highly recommend to everyone. Can't wait return.
